Roman enjoys painting commission originals through our gallery for collectors with a specific request of a subject matter, style and size. Please use samples of his work shown as an inspiration to create your own original painting.
Beginning in his very early teenage years Roman enjoyed exploring museums and art galleries in his native Poland, and other art centers. Roman has been greatly inspired by the works of French impressionist, 19th Century Masters such as the Polish painter Jan Matejko. The political climate and search for true freedom forced Roman to flee Poland just before he was to graduate from the University.
He eventually immigrated to the United States and made Hawaii his home. When he arrived on the Island of Maui, Roman was emotionally inspired by the lush colors, the majesty of the Hawaiian sunsets, the vivid contrast of the blue against the rainbow skies, and black lava rock against lush tropical foliage. Gray tones of socialist oppression were exchanged for a full palette of color when he became a self taught artist. Roman believes this was a gift from God and began to work on his skill by painting with Maui's artists, visiting art museums worldwide and by observing the beauty of nature up close.
"I love to travel", he explains. "I want my art to reflect the joy that comes from travels and living on the Island surrounded by water. I hope to share my happiness with those who have experienced this beauty as well. Discovering some of the worlds beautiful cities and country sides is very rewarding. I experience an intensity and power even in the peacefulness of remote places."
Roman's work started as realism and currently represents modern impressionism. He loves to paint with a palette knife. He is most fascinated with a study of light effects which is well visible in his work. His ocean, gardens and cityscapes are bold, rich in color and texture as a result of each stroke. Roman has created many fascinating paintings as private commissions for clients from all over the world.
In July 2009, Roman was honored by his native country of Poland by having his art chosen to be on permanent display in the Polish Consulates in Los Angeles, Chicago and the Embassy in Washington DC.
Roman's paintings of red poppies symbolize Poland's struggle for freedom in recent history.
You can find Roman’s work showcased at Enchantress and Freeborne Gallery in Maui at the Shops at Wailea.
